Course Instructor: Tommy Midyette
Tommy is a famous local portrait painter. He has been featured multiple times in magazines and interviewed by WRAL TV. Tommy’s work is displayed in the governor’s mansion. Course Description: This Creative Drawing course is designed to enhance students’ drawing skills and foster creativity through various techniques and mediums. Students will explore line, form, texture, and composition while developing their unique artistic style. The course will include lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice.
Course Objectives:
- Develop fundamental drawing skills and techniques.
- Enhance observational skills and translate them into artwork.
- Experiment with different drawing mediums and tools.
- Cultivate creative thinking and personal expression.
- Understand and apply principles of composition and design.
Materials:
- Sketchbook (9″x12″ or larger)
- Pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B)
- Erasers (kneaded and plastic)
- Charcoal sticks and pencils
- Drawing pens (various sizes)
- Colored pencils or pastels
- Blending stumps or tortillons
- Ruler and compass
- Fixative spray
- Portfolio for completed works
